Nebraska

Nebraska is located in the Midwestern United States and was admitted into the Union in 1867. Nebraska’s name comes from the Chiwere Native American language and means “flat water,” referring to the Platte River. Nebraska is mostly rural and is one of the nation’s highest producers of corn, beef, and other products requiring open, flat land. Many famous names are associated with the state of Nebraska, including actors like Marlon Brando, activists like Malcolm X, and author L. Ron Hubbard. Nebraska has several great urban and rural universities.

University of Nebraska Lincoln

The University of Nebraska Lincoln is a public, research university in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is the flagship school for the University of Nebraska system. UNL is the state’s oldest and largest university, educating for nearly 150, and enrolling nearly 25,000 students annually. UNL offers a variety of bachelor’s degrees, more than a dozen different types of master’s degrees, and several kinds of doctorate degrees including PhD’s in Modern Languages and Literature, Agricultural Education, and Statistics. UNL is a land grant university, so its campus is not only extensive, but very green. UNL has been been ranked in the top third of all public and private universities in the nation, and has been praised as one a university that helps students graduate with as little debt as possible. UNL has nearly 500 student diverse student organizations available, and Recognized Student Organization events held on campus often have free soda supplied to them. The University of Nebraska Corn Huskers compete in all sorts of sports, including men’s and women’s basketball, golf, gymnastics, tennis and cross country. University of Nebraska Omaha

The University of Nebraska Omaha is a public, research university located in Omaha, Nebraska, and is part of the University of Nebraska system. The 14,000 students at UNO can choose frome than 200 different majors and minors, with diverse learning options including internships through the huge number of employers in Nebraska’s largest city of Omaha.  UNO has 110 different bachelor’s degree programs, 42 master’s programs, and 5 doctorate programs. Several graduate school programs at UNO are rated in the top 20 nationally. UNO offers an honors program, distance learning, and study-abroad options. UNO’s campus also sports an excellent student recreation center. University of Nebraska Kearney

The University of Nebraska Kearney is a public university located in Kearney, Nebraska, and is part of the University of Nebraska system. The surrounding community of Kearney is the home of about 30,000 people, lending a small-town attitude to a town large enough to have all the amenities and opportunities a college student needs. UNK is home to about 6,500 students. UNK has more than 170 different undergraduate program options that let students get the real-world knowledge they need to obtain a great job someday.  Bellevue University

Bellevue University is private university located in Bellevue, Nebraska. The school offers a number of undergraduate and graduate programs to its approximately 8,000 students. Besides courses on its main campus, most Bellevue students are also enrolled in online courses and some in distance-learning degree programs. Bellevue also has a few outreach sites throughout the Midwest. Bellevue’s educational mission acknowledges the difficulties of completing a degree in today’s world in the traditional manner of attending classes full-time. Many students at Bellevue have part-time jobs, or are already working full-time and are working toward a degree that will help them find a higher-paying job in their career of choice. Bellevue students come from all backgrounds though, including military members, high school students, and transfer students.
